Well, All is going decent. The band I am playing bass for that is just getting started finally decided on a name and threw together a myspace, at http://www.myspace.com/buildingaltars. If you want to add us, that would be sweet, but it is a bit bland for right now. We are planning on doing a lot more with it in the future as well as add a drummer. Also, we are going to work on recording a couple songs on Monday to put on the myspace.
With the other group, I am pretty stoked to be playing tomorrow morning with the AME Church. I love the freedom to just add w/e i feel like. The whole sound is really tight. I am still working on getting some more gear for both my guitar and bass at this point. I still need a decent amp for both as well as add a few more pedals to my collection as I start putting together a pedal board. I think I am going to have to order the ones that I want off the internet or run to Raleigh to pick them up.
As far as everything else goes, I am doing pretty good, trying to stay out of trouble and what not. I hope to finish this one song I started to write.
There are three things that amaze me, NO, four thing that I don't understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, and how a man loves a woman.
Proverbs 30: 18- 19
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— for your love is more delightful than wine. Song of Solomon 1:2
I have found the one my heart loves. Songs of Solomon 3:4
Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:8
But all the silliness aside we would rather hang out together at home, then be anywhere with anyone else. Now that's something. Which is strange by today's standards. I have friends who would rather go out with girl friends or go shopping then have to spend time with their husbands, and that just makes me sad. Because they are missing out on the oneness they could have with their husbands. The true joy of being the half that makes him whole, being his true partner in every way.
I was only 18 when Daniel and I got married, I loved him so much i thought i could never love him more then i did then. How wrong I was. Today after almost 6 years of marrige I love him more. I love him with the kind of love that makes my heart hurt. I still get butterflies in my stomock when he comes home from work. He still makes my heart skip a beat when he holds my hand or gives me a kiss. I know he loves me, and that he will always love me. And just knowing that makes me one of the one of the happiest women in the world.
I hope you take some time to hug your hubby and let him know how much he means to you. You can NEVER say, "I love you" too much! hehe!
Sienna has really started loving dramatic play and imaginary play. She loves "cooking" and serving everyone food. She has also started to wear my jewelry and my clothes. It's pretty cute. My little sister and I loved dressing up when we were little as well. So it is so much fun playing with Sienna in that same way. Today she got to spend time with my nieces who, thought it would be so much fun to dress her up in there "real" dress up clothes. hehe! She loved putting on princess dresses and wearing kid jewelry. I'm pretty sure that the #1 thing on her birthday list is dress up clothes and play jewelry. Well here are a few shots of my little dress up girl!
Tonight was my monthly coffee night with the girls from my youth group. We tried out a new place, well new to us. It's owned by a Christian lady and she loves when people have bible study or small groups there. She also plays Christian music. Plus they serve coffee, desserts and Boba. Which a lot of my girls were excite about boba, i didn't try it, but maybe next time. The girls enjoyed the place so much that we are going to make it our regular spot for coffee nights! Yeppie! So here are some fun photo's from tonight, plus pictures from the car ride home. Hope it makes you smile.
Right now Daniel and I are making a lot of very important decisions, that will affect our life in a BIG way. My family is the most important thing to me. And I want to make sure that the decisions that we make right now are the right ones for all three of us. I will post later in more detail. But if you could pray for us, that we would do what God wants us to do. And that the Lord will be glorified in the choices that we make. Thank you.
Here are some verse that are giving me encouragement:
"My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
"In all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." Romans 8:37
"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we
ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be
the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever
and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
"God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all
sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good
deed." 2 Corinthians 9:8
"Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation." Psalm 68:19
"Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God." Psalm 42:11
"Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the LORD." Psalm 31:24
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
"But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from
the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you
are doing and will continue to do what we command. May the Lord direct
your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ." 2 Thessalonians 3:3-5
"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10
"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me."John 14:1
Psalm 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
Psalm 86:9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
Psalm 95:6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
Psalm 96:9 Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
Matthew 16:21-25 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it."
Mark 8:31- 34 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men." Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Luke 18: 31-34 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again."The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
John 12: 23- 27 Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me."Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!"
Tonight we read from all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) about Christ predicting His own death. I'm doing something new with the kids, every week they will break into four groups and in their groups they will all be reading about the samething but from a different gospel, they will stay in these group for the duration of the study. That is to say that if they were in the "Mark" group tonight, they will stay in the "Mark" group every week. Then after they have read their verses we come back together as one large group and discuss what we read and the differences. The kids really like this, also tonight in their individual groups they learned about the author of their gospel as well as their writing style and who they were writing too. The kids thought this was fascinating and loved seeing the same story from four different perspectives. I closed by reading John 11: 45- 57 about the plot to kill Jesus. Next week we will be reading about Christ Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem. I am really excited about what is happening in our group. The kids are loving being in smaller groups and learning how to navagate through the bible on their own. So if you have a small group or youth group, try breaking them up into smaller groups, it really made a differnce tonight! I can't wait until next week to do it again!
I can't believe my niece Kaitlin is nine years old. It feels like she was born yesterday. It's funny how time just starts moving faster once you are a adult. I remember the first family get together that Daniel came to was Kaitlin's first birthday, we had only been dating for a few months. And now 8 years later we are married and have a daughter! Craziness!
The party was fun, Sienna loved playing with her cousins! Kaitlin loved all her gifts and had a great time. I love Kaitlin so very much and I hope she knows how deeply i care for her. I treasure all my nieces and nephew and would do anything for them. I love being their Aunt!
Tonight the Milner/ Turner family clan got together to celebrate Grandma Juil's Birthday. It was fun to get together with everyone and to see all the kids playing together. I was excited about the big group gift we were all giving Grandma. We gave her a charm bracelet with a charm that had a photo of each great grandchild and then a large group photo with all eight of her great grandchildren in it. I took all the photo's about a month ago, and it has been hard to keep it all a secret from Grandma. But it payed off in the end she was so surprised and happy with all the pictures. I love being a part of Daniel's big family, and these kind of family get togethers are my favorite!
After gifts we had cake and ice cream. Well if you know Daniel and I you know we love ice cream! Well I made homemade chocolate peanut butter ice cream and we brought it to the birthday party. It was super yummy and the perfect consitantcy. Everyone enjoyed it and I can't wait to make more! Hope you had a great saturday!
So, for most of those who don't know me...which is pretty much everyone. I play a whole lot of music, so I might post some pictures and put up some videos of music stuff I do. As well as, pictures of my fun toys that I love to play. I recently started playing at an A.M.E. church. I have had a whole lot of fun so far with playing with them. I play lead guitar for them, and we have a bit of fun while everything is going. I currently spend most of my time practicing and playing, so this blog is most likely going to be dedicated to a lot of my music that goes on. I should post a few songs on my myspace.com soon under www.myspace.com/dumbyfiddler. It will probably include a lot of random things as it seems since I play from a lot of different genres. so....with my first blog here we go...
So today, I had lots of fun after church since the music director didn't really want me to play with the group during the service. Afterwards though we played a few songs as people were leaving, and I love the feel of the group. It has this funky bass groove with the drums to back it up. As well as a keyboardist who plays pretty much up there with the gospel music. I just think it's funny with what I bring to the group, a sort of jazzy blues feel but still a little more rock and punk. At the same time, I stick more to the blues than anything else.
In other areas, the band I am working on starting with a few friends in which we will play a little more harder rock music as well as good solid rock ballads. We are still getting the foundation set with that, in which I play bass for. I feel that we have something good going, it is just hard to get that initial step out of the door with a solid foundation to start working on lots of music and practicing where as the other group I am now playing with already had the solid foundation with the keyboardist, bass player, and drummer who all learned to lock in with each other, so all they are worried about now is figuring out how I fit into the mix. They just want to not change me and what I bring to the table because each individual musician always has their own personal style. They really don't want to change me at all which is really awesome. I bring a certain element to the group dynamics, we just have to figure out how to put the runs and different parts I can play into the music they currently do. I will probably just stick to more of the basics and not really venture too far out of the box for a little while until I get the foundations of lead lines set. Then bring on all the fun runs. I can't wait for this group to really get going with creating our own music since we have already taking some of the melodies that I just kind of play around with and turned them into a pseudo song. It was really interesting to see the parts just take shape and it actually fit with the four piece set we have going on. Anyway, going back to the other band that I am playing with. They are trying to get a certain sound out of everyone rather than making a melting pot, which is pretty respectable too, we just don't think outside of the box as much for me since I love to just improve off of w/e is going on. I guess it's good that I am playing bass and will just lay the foundation rather than playing lead. I am looking into getting more gear now from my guitar, I bought a cry baby and a couple other notable pedals to help get a cool sound out of my rig. The music directors first words when he saw my amp was, "We need to step you up on a bigger amp," so if you have any suggestions, let me know:p. I also am setting up a pedal board, now I have to figure out how to organize everything that I have, so any suggestions there would also be awesome. I guess thats it for now, hopefully I can keep things updated through this blog every once and awhile. Peace!
